What should I bring with me to Tripoli?

 

·    A photocopy of your passport — as it is always advisory to carry your ID with you

·    Insurance — you are responsible for arranging your own travel cover

·    Credit card — Credit cards especially Visa are accepted at the main hotels and some restaurants. Cash points can be found in some hotels.

·    Medical Kit — always a good option just in case

·    Your mobile phone — most international networks (not 02) can pick up the local ones in Libya.

·    A smile — things do take longer sometimes but people are genuinely kind in Libya, a smile goes a long way!

·     Do not bring: alcohol, as it is banned in Libya.

·     Sun block or sun tan lotion — the sunshine is likely to be strong so it is advisable to protect yourself.

 

What currency do they use in Libya?

The currency of Libya is the Libyan Dinar which comes in notes of 20, 10, 5, 1, 0.5 and 0.25 LD’s. At the moment, the exchange rate is £1 = 2.5 LD. Hotels, foreign exchange bureaux and banks will change all international and Middle Eastern currencies.
